Best Audio Recording for the Canon 5D

http://alikgriffin.com
Recently I was on the look out for the best audio recorder for the Canon 5d mkII or for any DSLR in general. After about a day of research, reading reviews, comments, and watching videos, it came down to the Zoom H4n, or the Sony PCM-D50. They are both very similar in function, and each having some features the other doesn’t. What was nice about the Sony was its construction and build but it will cost you a little more. Ultimately I ended up choosing the Zoom H4n. It came down to it’s XLR inputs on the back, and the a screw on the bottom to mount to your camera or tripod.

“House” continuing to use the 5DmkII in a “big way” on current season

http://philipbloom.net
Not a lot of info here but I wanted to pass it on…I just had a little twitter exchange with Greg Yaitanes, the EP and Director of some episodes of the FOX show “House” with whom I did a long interview with back in April about their season finale that they shot entirely on 3 5DmkII. Well, Greg has told me that they are “being used in a big way in every episode and seamlessly intercutting with film”.

How to Shoot a Fancy Stop-Motion Commercial on the Cheap (-ish)

http://feedproxy.google.com
Have you seen the recent viral ad from Levi’s of a guy walking across America wearing Levi jeans? Pretty simple, but pretty cool. [Maybe the walking thing was inspired by this similar concept in Toronto?] Anyway, this video here shows us how they pulled it off using just one camera, a tripod, 14 days, a few thousand photos, a few thousand miles, a protractor, a string, and a bit of math. Sign me up.

Color Grading the 5D mkII for Case Combines

http://feedproxy.google.com

There have been so many great comments on the BTS of the Case Tractor commercial that I wanted to share the 30 second spot with you. Let’s make this a learning experience. I will show you the offline edit of the MOV. files out of the camera that were decompressed with CS5, which Pro Res should just call it quits. This decompressor kicks its ass and hand its hat to them. Adobe has it going on. The first one is my offline edit and then you will look at the finished color grading done with a SpeedGrade DI color correction system. Andrew Huebscher was my colorist.

RED Epic and Scarlet Cameras By End of 2010?

Reading off Engadget, found at the comprehensive Reduser.net forums, Jim Jannard (founder of RED) has apologized for the “embarassingly late” production delays on the Epic (pictured above) and Scarlet cameras.
